Re: state of project?

Hi Oliver, many thanks (again) for your kind & motivating feedback, it really matters to me! I realise that I should produce more of these short screencasts, since they better convey how the app works. For a Kickstarter campaign to be really successful, one would also need very good video and &q...

Re: state of project?

Hi again, My high anticipation even increased above max after seeing the additional screenshots here on the forum about the graph of notes. Thanks, In case you haven't seen it yet, there's also a little screencast that shows the graph in action (also linked from the general introductions on Keypoint...

Re: state of project?

Hi Oliver, many thanks for your interest in my app and for the kind words, it's much appreciated! I understand that the lack of updates on the Keypoints website and forum may indicate to interested users that this project has been abandoned. But I can assure you that the app is still under continuou...

Re: OCR

Why not use the native framework offered by Apple? The Vision framework offers multilingual character recognition. It is efficient but if it is not perfect (it has trouble with multicolumn texts), but is fully integrated into the system, evolves regularly and avoids cost problems and licenses for e...

Re: OCR

What if the PDF has no text layer? How would you highlight a section? Could you still create an excerpt of the text? If the PDF has no text layer, then one wouldn't be able to select and highlight (or copy etc) some text from it. Any app w/o built-in OCR capabilities has the same issue. There are t...

Re: filter and orange snippets in graph view

Thats really nice to see! Could you then also rearrange a few notes and lock the position? Thanks. With the current graph visualization engine (Keypoints currently uses Graphviz), I fear that's not possible. Currently, a given set of notes in the graph even isn't guaranteed to get arranged in the s...

Re: text blocks between snippets in graph view

Btw, link types can also be used to denote navigational links, like links that indicate the next / previous note in a note sequence. For example, you could add link types like these: Link to next note in note sequence: [[followed by::LINK_ID]] Link to previous note in note sequence: [[follows::LINK_...

Re: text blocks between snippets in graph view

It would be great if it will be possible to write text blocks between PDF snippets, to describe the relationship between them. While not entirely the same, Keypoints allows you to add one or more link type(s) (aka "typed links", "semantic links", or "qualified links") ...

Re: linking snippets to markdown outline

Hi, thanks for the request! When I am doing research, I want to link my snippets immediately to an outline. Yes, Keypoints is meant to incorporate such a workflow, however, only the basics of that feature have been implemented so far. In Keypoints terminology, such an outline is called "overvie...

Re: filter and orange snippets in graph view

In graph view it would be helpful to filter the snippets, and also have the snippets arranged in accordance with a selected outline in which they are linked. The graph visualization generated by Keypoints always shows the currently displayed notes. I.e., similar to the notes list, the graph gets al...
